The Olive Tree Cooking School was established in Frankston South by Garry Cowled in 2011. After much searching for suitable premises we decided to convert the downstairs area of our home into a purpose-built kitchen where students could come and enjoy cooking in a relaxed and comfortable facility.

Our aim is to give the students the knowledge, skills and confidence to approach cooking as an enjoyable experience with the pleasure of sharing their dining table with family and friends.

The Olive Tree Cooking School will provide a source of hands-on training in both basic skills and advanced cooking techniques to satisfy the needs of both beginners through to experienced home cooks.

Bookings may be made by using our online facility or you can call us direct and speak to Garry.

The school is programmed on a two-tier level:

Basic Skills Program – 6 x 4 hour classes
This program will cover knife maintenance and handling skills, kitchen organisation and preparation as well as the main basic methods of cookery, giving the students the skills to read, interpret and understand most recipes and the ingredients that go to make up those recipes.
Any of these may also be taken as an individual class.
Speciality Classes
The Speciality Classes are skills based and hands-on tuition. You can be involved as much as you like in the food preparation or if you prefer to be an observer and watch from the sidelines then that is acceptable.
The classes are varied and cover a wide range of skills, cultural cuisines and presentation. Our list will provide you with an overview of each class but if you require more information on any of our class content please give us a call..
